Our Story
About Us
Established in 2015 by Chef Sandy Keung, Good BBQ 好燒味 serves traditional Cantonese bbq meat (or “Siu Mei”). It is a specialty siu mei shop with focused product offerings. Trained as CPA, Sandy was a fund manager and CFO for a public company in HK before she became a full time chef and restauranteur.
Also, Chef Sandy lived in New York when she was studying and training as CPA. She saw many Japanese F&B businesses were successful in standardization and being able to get into main stream market. However, Hong Kong iconic food such as Cantonese BBQ was under presented. All of them remained in Chinatown. This sow a seed in her heart. So when she set up Good BBQ, her goal was to one day be able to share Hong Kong's beloved and most presentative food with the "world" one day.

Good BBQ remains the only professional siu mei shop that uses such techniques on a commercial scale.

Good BBQ is also the first and only professional siu mei shop to provide traditional BBQ (or siu mei) made with vegetarian meat.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Good BBQ is not attached to any charities permanently. Founder Sandy Keung selects charities she likes to work with and to support each year e.g. Lions Club, Haw Par Music, ImpactHK, Autism Partnership, Pebblesproject.org, etc. Good BBQ supported Lion Club underprivileged families where Good BBQ provided 700 lunch boxes at costs.
Good BBQ supported Haw Par Music in HK for their annual fund raising event. Haw Par is an NGO and first music institute that integrates heritage conversation, music education and community engagement initiatives. It works with underprivileged students and other NGOs to make music accessible to all.
Good BBQ worked with ImpactHK which is an NGO that helps homeless people in HK in providing part time jobs to ImpactHK's clients. Often many of the homeless in HK are homeless due to economic reasons. But if they stay on the street long, mental illness develops. Pebblesproject.org, is an NGO in South Africa working with disadvantaged children and families in agricultural communities through many different programs in education and birth / child care.
